Rotor Balancing in Houston
Vi-TECH balances pump, compressor, turbine, fan and motor rotors up to 40,000 lb and 72 in diameter on Schenck balancing machines. Every rotor ships with a dynamic balancing test certificate.
Rotors we balance
- Pump rotors and rotating assemblies
- Centrifugal and screw compressor rotors
- Steam and gas turbine rotors
- Electric motor rotors
- Fan and blower rotors
- Drum shafts, rolls and crankshafts

Component and assembly rotor balancing
Component balancing balances each impeller and the shaft on its own before the rotor is stacked. Assembly balancing checks the finished rotor as one piece. Many pump and compressor specs call for both, and we run whichever your purchase order requires.
- Single-plane or two-plane balancing
- Balanced to API 610 (4W/N), an ISO 21940-11 grade or your customer spec
- Keyway and fit work done in house when a part needs it first

What you receive
Each rotor ships with a dynamic balancing test certificate. It records the initial and final unbalance, the correction mass and angle in each plane, the tolerance and the standard applied. Need the impellers balanced too? See impeller balancing. Rotor cannot come out of the unit? See field balancing.
Rotor balancing questions
How large a rotor can you balance?
Up to 40,000 lb and 72 in (6 ft) diameter in our Pasadena, Texas shop.
Do you balance components or the assembled rotor?
Either or both. Component balancing balances each impeller and the shaft separately before assembly; assembly balancing checks the stacked rotor. We follow the method your spec calls out.
What standard do you balance to?
The standard on your purchase order, such as API 610 (4W/N) or an ISO 21940-11 balance grade. The test certificate records the standard and the tolerance met.
How fast can you turn a rotor?
Expedited jobs ship within one week. For a breakdown, call 281-991-6200 at any hour.
Send the rotor weight, diameter, journal sizes, operating speed and balance specification. Note whether component or assembly balancing is required.
